I gave this story a good rating because of the whole general concept, rather than the story itself. Again, there were unnecessary parts in the plot, but I really loved the relationships of Alex, and her friends. Nevertheless, even though I didn’t really like the beginning of the book (it took me about one hundred pages to actually start liking it), I fell in love with the other half. I felt as though both the mystery aspects were unnecessary, and would have loved the book even more if it just told of Alex dealing with her Schizophrenia in general. Also, I felt as if there relationships were sort of rushed, and there was way too much going on in the plot. I have parts that I am not a fan of, and parts that I am completely in love with.įor example, I really loved the characters that were apart of the club Alex was in, but I also felt as if the two main characters were undeveloped.

If I am being totally honest, it’s very hard for me to explain this novel. Struggling between imagination and reality, Alex takes pictures of suspicious things to look over, and to see, if she made them up.including the young boy. Now in high school, Alex meets Miles-a mysterious ‘know it all’ teen, who is supposedly German-, who she believes is the boy from her childhood.

Made You Up by Francesca Zappia was a thought provoking and tragically beautiful novel told from the perspective of Alex (Alexandra)-a schizophrenic teen-who found out about her disorder from imagining setting the live crabs in the grocery store loose, with the help of an intelligent, young boy.
